DANCE NEWS: Mimi Garrard Dance Theatre Announces Recent Awards
Mimi Garrard of Mimi Garard Dance Theatre is proud to announce several awards for her recent work, including a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Institute of Arts and Letters in Mississippi for her outstanding achievement in dance both for video and for the stage, and a Distinguished Alumnae Award from Sweet Briar College.
As her experimental vision with digital techniques has grown, Mimi’s work has gained increased attention — and multiple plaudits. Recently, her films have been presented internationally on television, in museums and galleries, and in festivals. Her work has lately been shown on the dome of the planetarium in Jackson, Mississippi, and on the BBC BIG screen throughout England. Over the course of the last three years, Mimi has participated in 1660 international festivals and has won 927 first place awards.
Mimi Garrard has a half-hour monthly television program on Manhattan Neighborhood Network (MNN) in Manhattan, New York that is streamed live at the time of broadcast (243 programs to date). The next program is Sunday, September 3 at 5 p.m. They are also simultaneously Webcast with streaming video at www.mnn.org.
