MODERN MOVES 2024: SPRING SERIES 

May 18th, 2 pm and 6 pm

Karl Kemp Performance Space at Balance Arts Center 

 

Modern Moves is dedicated to creating opportunities for the next generation of dance makers to advance and share their art. This performance features a variety of genres from contemporary to dance theater to jazz, all crafted by emerging choreographers from New Jersey and New York City.

Modern Moves 2024: Spring Series features work by Angélica Barbosa, Jordyn Cherry, Amanda Egan, Amina Kolenc, Hoyori Maruo and Alex Schmidt, Hadiya Matthews, Gryffin Mendonssa, and Leah Schinsing. All 9 choreographers are based in NJ/NYC, but have roots across the country and the world. Through the lenses of love, grief, optimism, and reflection, this program reveals our perspectives on human experiences, sensations, and curiosities.

Modern Moves was founded by independent artists Jordyn Cherry + Amina Kolenc as a platform for emerging choreographers to highlight their creativity and cultivate connections. Modern Moves held its debut performance at the Williams Center in Rutherford, NJ on November 10th, 2023.
