AUDIENCE REVIEW: American Liberty Ballet in "Titanic Tale"

American Liberty Ballet in "Titanic Tale"

American Liberty Ballet

Performance Date:

Freeform Review:

I was beyond impressed when I saw what a polished gem of a production this small, NJ-based company was able to stage. An inventive take on the film, Titanic, this time the story follows two young lovers who meet on deck - and then travel with the ship to the depths of the sea.

That's where the real magic in this story takes place. The two lovers, beautifully protrayed by Allie Hutchins and Marcos Antonio, get separated by the maidens of the deep. These gorgeous mermaid-like creatures have flowing blue hair and mysterious ways. It's all very intriguing.

I was extremely impressed by Ms Hutchins' technique and expressive movement. She beautifully captured the mystery and wonder of the deep sea world. All in all, the company was full of powerful, beautifully trained dancers. Rounds of applaluse to choreographer Valerie Mae Browne who created the entire piece. Be sure to catch the show if it is staged again. It's a wonder.
