DANCE NEWS: WHITE WAVE Young Soon Kim Dance Company's Dance Film Joins Official Selections at 2021 Espoo Digi-Dance International Film Festival
WHITE WAVE Young Soon Kim Dance Company's newest production, "iyouuswe II, a Dance Film" (read I-you-us-we-two) ranks among the OFFICIAL SELECTIONS at the 2021 Espoo Digi-Dance Int. Film Festival (EDDI). The EDDI Festival 2021 program on Saturday, January 30th saw ten amazing short dance films including iyouuswe II_Trio.
About the Work
iyouuswe II (read I-You-Us-We-Two) is WHITE WAVE Dance's multi-year collaboration by pioneering choreographer, Young Soon Kim, in collaboration with the company's performers, as they continue to explore the body's three dimensions in space.
Probing the weight of human emotions, iyouuswe II, a Dance Film, presents a vividly-colored vision where movement and mise-en-scène seamlessly meld. Especially during this critical time of the covid Pandemic, this piece challenges us to examine who we are, and how we relate to ourselves and to each other. It is a story of developing relationships by which we struggle to find a sense of ‘i’ as part of a ‘we.’
The dances were recorded at Jones Beach and accompanied by Greg Haines' score of driving cavernous rhythms. The work captures the chaos propelling us to the inevitable collapse of society.
