Above and Beyond Dance features four highly trained dancer-aerialists in its latest full-length production, RAW. A journey into raw emotion and raw physicality, RAW utilizes aerial artistry, acrobatic partnering and dance theater choreography alongside powerful photographic imagery as it explores the vulnerability inherent in the human experience. Original chamber music by Lauren Buchter (Berklee School of Music), Nicholas Csicsko (Juilliard School of Music) and Reinaldo Moya (Juilliard School of Music) heightens the dramatic impetus of the evening’s choreography. This action-packed performance is sure to impress and is accessible to devoted dance-goers and novices alike. For information about RAW at Manhattan Movement Arts Center, Oct 13-16th click here.
A Minute of Dance On Silk With Chriselle Tidrick of Above and Beyond Dance:
Liz Gerring and long time collaborator, composer and sound artist Michael J. Schumacher explore the co-dependency between dance and music, together creating an oblique environment of relationships that crisscross space and time.In this work the choreographer focuses on her methods of construction; clarification of image rather than invention of new movement. Highly athletic, the challenging physical demands of the vocabulary are expressed in abstraction often drawn from the everyday. The world premiere of She Dreams In Code will be presented by the Baryshnikov Arts Center, NYC, October 13-16, 2011.
