Just when Barbie Dolls are being remade to reflect today’s modern woman, Les Ballets de Monte Carlo returns to NYC with a full-length ballet Cinderella that also reflects a contemporary mindset. No longer is the central character a helpless victim (visions of her dead mother give her back bone) and she dances barefoot! Celebrating its thirtieth anniversary, Les Ballets de Monte Carlo performs company director Jean-Christophe Maillot’s choreography made in 1999 to the Sergei Prokofiev's score, and a set by Ernest Pignon-Ernest at City Center, February 18 – 20, 2016.
To complement the performances will be a free photography exhibit by Monaco-born Alice Blangero “Inside Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo” February 15-21, 2016 at Christie’s Lobby Gallery, 20 Rockefeller Plaza, New York City. Wed-Sat: 10:00 am - 5:00 pm Sun: 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm.
