Happy Birthday Isadora Duncan...Happy Birthday to You.

Whenever I attend a rehearsal (just yesterday I was sitting in John Byrne's rehearsal for his June show and Alexandra Beller's a couple weeks ago) I am struck by the performers and choreographers digging deep into the well of their inner experience to bring something to light for us. One hundred and thirty four years ago, this would not have been the case. The inner life of a dance artist , their political, social and psychological circumstance ,was not part of the choreographic landscape. Isadora Duncan's passion for dance, her belief in its importance and relevance to humanity changed that.
I was privileged to have the opportunity to chat with Lori Belilove, artistic director of The Isadora Duncan Dance Company in New York City about her connection to Isadora Duncan.
