Victor Quijada's RUBBERBAND Dance Company Presents "Ever So Slightly"
Company:
RUBBERBAND
Victor Quijada's RUBBERBAND dance company blends classical dance composition and West Coast hip-hop to create a dance form like no other.
On March 1, they present the evening-length "Ever So Slightly," a prime example of RUBBERBAND style. With 10 irrepressible dancers and a DJ, "Ever So Slightly" explores a modern dilemma — how do we find calm and resilience in a chaotic world, how can we get to a zone where noise and aggressivity no longer have a place? The space, the distorted bodies, and the live music result in a production on steroids, a combination of delicacy and finesse with brute, high-voltage movement that captures the energy of urgency, revolt, and flight from danger.
"Ever So Slightly" was commissioned by The Performing Arts Center, Purchase College.
