New York, NY – Presented by Faustine Lavie, Artistic Director of Faustine Lavie Dance Project (FLDP) and 2023-2024 Artist-in-Residence at University Settlement, Unspoken Voices is a world premiere of immigrant stories shared through contemporary dance and text.

The performance will be presented on Thursday June 13th and Saturday June 15th at 7:30pm at Speyer Hall – University Settlement. Unspoken Voices highlights shared and contrasting experiences among immigrants living in New York, NY. Natives of Colombia, Costa Rica, France, Italy and Japan come together in this new work, offering insights to their respective journeys through movement and original text.

Together, the artists detail advantages, cultural differences, dreams, and struggle. Unspoken Voice’s hallmark offers shared empathy within each immigrant’s experience despite differences in upbringing. The work additionally features stories from the University Settlement Adult Literacy Conversation Club, and was developed thanks to
the generosity of Lavie’s 2023-2024 residency with The Performance Project @ University Settlement. The residency engages young local artists and emerging professional artists with opportunities to connect, create and publicly present new work.
