The Gospel According to THPAC features gospel music, dance, photography, video and spoken word. It is a dance narrative work.
THPAC has formed its own pop -up dance company to present this season’s programs. It tells the story of Black America from pre-slavery, slavery, Jim Crow, the ‘60s Civil Rights Movement to the Black Lives Matter Movement through dance choreographed by Jamel Gaines, Walter Rutledge and Will Ervin, set to music by Stephanie Mills, Nina Simone, Rev. James Cleveland and the Southern California Community Choir, and more.
