RED BANK, NJ: Nimbus Dance & NJ Symphony Present "Firebird" and "Dark Water"
Company:
Nimbus Dance
Nimbus Dance collaborates with the New Jersey Symphony for two world premiere works this spring.
Firebird, choreographed by Artistic Director Samuel Pott, reimagines the iconic folktale through a contemporary lens, depicting themes of freedom, flight, and reconciliation. Accompanied by a live orchestral performance conducted by Xian Zhang, this bold production features an interactive set design and a fresh narrative perspective.
Dark Water, created by Pott and composer Qasim Naqvi, explores humankind’s complex relationship with the natural world. With evocative set designs by Nicola López and a haunting score performed by a Symphony piano quintet, the piece transports audiences into the depths of the ocean, blending movement, music, and visual art into a powerful sensory experience.
"Audiences can expect to be transported by these two new creations, each depicting fantastical and highly visual worlds, whose stories are animated by the chameleon-like dancers of Nimbus.” - Samuel Pott, Artistic Director and Choreographer
