Miro Magloire's New Chamber Ballet returns to the Mark Morris Dance Center to present the World Premiere of two Magloire works: the duet "Vox" and "The Distance Between Bones," which premiered last year at the Manhattan School of Music,  February 14 and 15 at 7:30 PM.

The Distance Between Bones is a short, partnered duet for Amber Neff and Kayla Schmitt, in which the dancers are connected in interlocking, gravity-defying lifts.  Music is by Ms. Ya-Lan Chan.

Vox is the result of a multi-year collaboration with composer Elizabeth Gartman, following a 2021 duet called Deep Breath, which critic Leigh Witchel called "bracing, daring, and calmly radical". The score for piano and violin is inspired by the mechanics of vocal music. Incorporating interviews with the dancers about their (real and metaphorical) voices, the dance is as much a portrait of the artists as a reflection on the emotional parallels between singing and dancing.
