Lindsey Hanson Collective presents "Sanctuary"
Company:
Lindsey Hanson Collective
Lindsey Hanson’s site-specific and multimedia dance piece Sanctuary activates the modern architecture of her church, Redeemer West Side, with dancers from Lindsey Hanson Collective performing amid, over and sometimes under the pews. The dance piece explores themes of connection and perspective, and the slow or sudden ways both can shift. After a year of us practicing physical distance due to the pandemic, Sanctuary invites us to consider how we engage with the spaces around us and how we interact with one another. Through dance, Sanctuary suggests the new life that can invigorate a worship space and the ways we can connect with spirituality.
Note: this is a two-part multidisciplinary arts experience that involves the audience walking around, sitting and standing, and going up and down stairs. If you have accessibility needs, please email us at W83.Gallery@RedeemerWS.com.
This program is made possible through a Vital Worship Grant from the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship, Grand Rapids, Michigan, with funds provided by Lilly Endowment Inc.
