River Spirit Music and Musae have joined forces to present this special virtual event with the Musae 360° VR platform, where it will be broadcast live in both HD and 360° Virtual Reality simultaneously so audiences can enjoy a completely immersive experience.
Grounded Aerial is ecstatic to offer a virtual reality play! Aerialists above you, dancers below, and a towering praying mantis surround you in a 360° immersive experience. VR Headsets are mailed to you - just slip your phone inside them - and enter into a fantasy world called Insectinside. This aerial play also is an auditory experience with music created by John Medeski utilizing new unreleased material from Medeski Martin and Wood’s latest studio recording. With Virtual Reality, you are on the stage immersed fully by the cast around, below, and above you. This maturing medium presents new opportunities for creative expression. Our 360º camera puts you in the action. The actors, aerialists, and musicians surround you. Look to your right; peer into the eyes of the lead character. Look to your left; see and hear the pianist. Look below; dancers crawl over your feet. Look above; see an aerialist whiz past.
This evening-length play, premiered a decade ago in San Francisco, New York City, and Philadelphia to rave reviews, utilizes bungee cords, zip lines, silks, and fully customized aerial apparatuses to explore characters of dark and light worlds. Insectinside dissects basic human decency, herd mentality, and hope. It breaks wide-open current topics such as social conditioning, injustice, empathy, and aggression and weaves them into a visceral love-story. The audience is catapulted into a whirlwind fantasyland of wasps, fireflies, a towering praying mantis, and more.
10 actors/dancers/aerialists, cast credits include: The Oscars, Philadanco!, Pilobolus, Cavalia, Junk, Momix, De La Guarda, Saturday Night Live, VH1 Music awards, and more.
