Dear Friends,
I'm writing to let you know we will celebrate EYE ON DANCE's 40th Anniversary (launched in 1981) with a screening of the EYE ON DANCE 200th Anniversary Program Special on The Dance Enthusiast platform March 28 at 4pm. The screening will be followed by a talk with me, Chrsitine Jowers, Francesca Harper, Sean Curran and Mercedes Ellington plus Q & A.
Originally broadcast in 1986, the restored one hour Special includes segments produced from 1981-86 celebrating the first 5 years of EYE ON DANCE. We hope the screening will help refresh the public's awareness of the EYE ON DANCE Legacy Archive.

In 1981, EYE ON DANCE built a TV series around dancers' ideas and creations. Each week on PBS dance legends, scholars, iconoclasts and forgotten heroes engaged in stimulating conversations and unforgettable performances. The EOD educational resource was broadcast from 1981-2004
Similar zoom screenings and panels are being discussed with Ohio State University, Dickinson, Temple University, National Dance Educators Association, Arizona State University and Harlem Stage.
In Brief: EYE ON DANCE
In 1981, at a time when television was the dominant form of communication, Jeff Bush and I created a weekly television series amplifying the voices of dancers.
The deeply researched, frank interviews were framed by social, political, historical and cultural forces covering everything from ancient forms, ballet and tap to modern and hip hop.
Recently designated an "irreplaceable national dance treasure" 40% of the archive contains artists of colors and artists with AIDS not recorded elsewhere.
Broadcast from 1981-2004 through our nonprofit organization, the EYE ON DANCE Legacy Archive includes 2400 tapes, and reams of materials associated with the making of each program: personal communications, production notes, publications, photographs, programs, press materials and more.
We are currently raising funds to restore distressed videotapes and associated materials for access by future generations. Restored EOD episodes are distributed to universities and libraries.
