Over the course of his illustrious career, renowned composer Philip Glass conceived The Etudes as a set of solo piano works to expand his piano technique. Now amongst Glass’ most popular works, The Etudes have inspired performances and interpretations from artists worldwide.

In Dancing with Glass: The Piano Etudes, five new choreographic perspectives on The Etudes will be presented alongside a performance by guest pianist Maki Namekawa, one of the world’s foremost interpreters of Glass’ music. The evening will feature works by post-modern innovator Lucinda Childs, Chanon Judson of Urban Bush Women, Justin Peck of New York City Ballet, Brazilian tap artist Leonardo Sandoval, and Los Angeles-based choreographers Bobbi Jene Smith and Or Schraiber.

Part of Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels Festival in New York || Produced by Pomegranate Arts || Developed in residency at Kaatsbaan Cultural Park in celebration of Philip Glass’s 85th Birthday
