Incorporating elements of flamenco and contemporary dance with a soundtrack ranging from flamenco to classical music to R&B, “Soul of Flowers” is a dynamic work that seeks to celebrate diversity and the human spirit.  Miles will share her floral themed choreographic work, Soul of Flowers this spring as the Metropolitan State University of Denver’s ‘Music, Race & Social Justice Visiting Artist’ on April 13th at 4:30pm at the university’s King Center concert hall. Inspired by botanical research and JJ Grandville’s novel “The Flowers Personified,” which is about flowers that turn into humans and exhibit different personality traits based on Victorian floral symbolism, Soul of Flowers presents vignettes of different flowers’ lives that are symbolic of human emotions. Featuring guest appearances from classical music duo Solazur and dancers, Miles will take the audience on a multi-disciplinary journey of mood, color, dance vocabulary, and music that boldly explores the soul.
