BALAM Dance Theatre
GEMS Midtown Concerts presents BALAM Dance Theatre's debut of Garden of Love in Miniature, a FREE 40-minute dance program with live music show presenting imaginative Balinese/Baroque inspired choreographies with music performed on period instruments. Adding to the magical charm of this chamber production are sumptuous historically informed costumes and masks, as well as singing by guest mezzo-soprano Eugenia Forteza.
The music includes French Baroque gems like the Entree d'Apollon for solo harpsichord by Jean-Henri D’Anglebert, Concerts Royaux Concerts 1 and 2 by Francois Couperin, and the aria Sans Freyuer Dans Ce Bois by Marc-Antoine Charpentier.
Performers: Dancer Carlos Fittante, Dancer Yumiko Niimi, BALAM Musicians Lisa Terry on viola de gamba and Ryan Closs on therobo, guest musicians Dongsok Shin on harpsichord and Dongmyung Ahn on Baroque violin, and guest mezzo-soprano Eugenia Forteza
The program will be presented live in person and streamed at https://www.gemsny.org/midtown-live or on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/c/MidtownConcerts/featured.
