THE “BLACK BLACK BLACK“ WEEK
BBB is proud to announce the return of The “Black Black Black” Week: a three day gathering of dancers, choreographers, and multidisciplinary artists! This event series marks 3 years of Beyond the Black Box. Over 3,600 people have been a part of our community thus far. If you’re new here, welcome!
This year’s curation comes straight from the source: a Black Dancer’s Imagination. BBB consistently cultivates cultural spaces meant to celebrate the resilience of our Black dance community. Doors open at 6pm for you to experience: our signature community mural, active photo booth, curated cocktails, soulfood, breathwork, and meditation will all be a part of your experience on September 17- 9th, 2024. With a handpicked curation by the BBB team you are guaranteed to have a Black A** night.
At 7:30 PM we commence our performances with a guided breathwork ceremony led with an African Drummer.
This year's theme is FAMILY REUNION. We are celebrating the deep connections and shared history within the Black community. This year's event invites everyone to experience the warmth and unity of a family gathering, whether you're coming with your favorite cousin, an elder, or by yourself. The event will serve as a space to honor the trailblazers who have paved the way, reflecting on their legacy and the strength they have instilled in the community.
As part of this theme, BBB emphasizes the importance of healing and rest. The event will include moments of reflection, relaxation, and activities designed to rejuvenate the spirit. In this space, everyone is treated as family, reinforcing the idea that BBB is a community bound by love, respect, and a shared commitment to growth and well-being. Whether through dance, music, or conversation, this reunion is a chance to come together, celebrate our heritage, and look forward to a future where we continue to uplift and support one another.
