Dance Visions NY, under the direction of Beth Jucovy, and the Hewlett-Woodmere Public Library present Dance Visions NY's last performance in their season of “Art and Music in Motion.” This concert features dance works with projected imagery, adding new layers to series’ of original paintings by visual artists Ilene Isskes and Susan Ruth Cohen, as well as new dance pieces inspired by music, including live music of Farah Chandu and Willow Interfaith Women's Choir and Jazz Vocalists Rose Gunter and Elysa Sunshine. With 12 excellent, expressive dance artists.
Featured is “Subway Windows,” based on artwork of Ilene Isseks, a high-energy work in which groups of diverse subway riders attempt to engage in the NY ritual of ignoring each other. As the subway proceeds, the riders’ anonymity dissolves, personalities and dreams emerge, and interactions occur. Subway Windows was recently presented by The SPARK Theatre Festival. Also featured is Through the Portals, based on artwork of Susan Ruth Cohen, depicting worlds of matter and relationships, moments in time before they dissolve and transform.
This program is made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrant Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by The Huntington Arts Council, Inc..
