Step Afrika! is excited to announce virtual auditions for a female, African American tap dancer to join our upcoming production of The Migration: Reflections on Jacob Lawrence, starting at Arena Stage in Washington, DC this June. The Company is seeking a dynamic performer with excellent tap skills and a passion for the stage.
PRODUCTION DETAILS
Title: The Migration: Reflections on Jacob Lawrence
Director: Jakari Sherman
Performance Dates: June 1 – July 16, 2024; National Tour begins Fall 2024
Location: Arena Stage, 1101 6th St SW, Washington, DC 20024
Rehearsal Schedule: Rehearsals will be in Washington, DC, starting on May 1, 2024. All rehearsals and performances are paid.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Must be an African American female, aged 18-35.
- Proficient in tap dancing with strong technique and stage presence
- Ability to learn choreography quickly and adapt to various dance styles
- Previous performance experience required
AUDITIONING FOR STEP AFRIKA!
To audition for this opportunity, complete the form on our website by February 26, 2024. Applicants will need to provide a headshot, resume, and 1-2 minutes of tap dancing footage. Step Afrika! will conduct Zoom interviews with Finalists for the position. All submissions will be reviewed with a final decision given no later than March 10, 2024.
