CHICAGO, IL: Chicago Ballet Company Seeks Talent for Celebrated Art Deco Nutcracker Production

Chicago’s renowned A&A BALLET Company is excited to announce auditions for its critically acclaimed Art Deco Nutcracker 2024. This unique rendition of the classic holiday ballet has garnered praise for its innovative choreography, stunning period costumes, and captivating set designs, all inspired by the glamorous, exuberant Art Deco era of the 1920s.

Auditions will be held on Saturdays in September at A&A BALLET studios from 11:00 a.m-12:00p.m. A&A is looking for performers of all skill levels and dance forms to bring the magic of this one-of-a-kind Nutcracker to life.
The Art Deco Nutcracker has been a staple of the A&A BALLET Company's repertoire since 2016 and is celebrated for its imaginative interpretation and the immersive experience it offers to audiences. This year's production promises to be even more spectacular, with new elements and surprises that will captivate both newcomers and long-time fans alike.
Auditions are open to children and young adults of all levels and styles of dance ages 4 - 24 years.
Audition Attire: Girls-black camisole leotard, pink footed tights, pink canvas ballet and pointe shoes (age/level appropriate); Boys-black footed tights, white tight fitted t-shirt, black ballet shoes. The audition will include some basic dance movements and a combination to be performed in character. No preparation of audition material is necessary. Dancers will be notified via email within the week after the audition if they have been cast. A production fee will be required for dancers performing “The Art Deco Nutcracker” and varies depending on role. Rehearsals begin in September and will take place primarily on Saturdays.
When: Saturdays September 7, 14, 21, 28 and October 5, 2024 I 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

A&A BALLET is based in Chicago’s state-of-the-art A&A BALLET Center for Dance and is devoted to training in strong, versatile dance techniques, as well as the development of personality, independence and artistry. Led by internationally acclaimed artists and former Founding Artistic Directors of the Joffrey Academy and Joffrey Studio Company, Anna Reznik and Alexei Kremnev, A&A offers a wide variety of classes, professional performance opportunities, private instruction, choreography and training for dancers ranging from age 3 to adult.
To date, A&A students have secured more than 150 full scholarships and multiple company, apprentice and studio company positions with powerhouses including American Ballet Theater, Bolshoi Ballet, Royal Danish Ballet, Paris Opera Ballet, English National Ballet Boston Ballet, Norwegian National Ballet, Houston Ballet, Princess Grace Academy of Monaco, Colorado Ballet, BalletMet and Sarasota Ballet.
