Steven Pisano
Steven Pisano is a performance photographer based in Brooklyn. His main focus is live dance photography, but he also photographs opera, theater, and music. He took up photography in 2016, after a decades-long career in book publishing as an editor and book designer.
He has photographed throughout NYC in venues large and small, from Lincoln Center, BAM, Carnegie Hall, the Joyce Theater, etc., to incubator spaces like CPR, Arts on Site, Dixon Place, etc. His photos have been published in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Dance magazine, Dance Enthusiast, Fjord Review, and many other online and print outlets. Several of his assignments have been picked up by the Associated Press and been published in local newspapers across the country. He enjoys working with top companies such as Alvin Ailey, Paul Taylor, Martha Graham, Ballet Hispanico, etc., but also enjoys working with young choreographers and dancers fresh out of college and just launching their careers.
