Gianna Mercandetti is a former intern and contributor to The Dance Enthusiast. She hails from Sarasota, FL, and graduated with her B.F.A. in Dance from Florida State University in December 2013. She began training in classical ballet at the Sarasota Ballet Academy, and has since worked in classical and contemporary styles during her time at FSU and beyond. For two seasons she danced with The Tallahassee Ballet. Also a choreographer, Mercandetti collaborated on a duet, Quicksilver, which was presented at the FSU School of Dance's Days of Dance concert in 2013. She spent her final undergraduate semester in a satellite program through the university, called FSU in NYC. Dancing, working as an intern for The Dance Enthusiast, and taking academic and choreography courses, the semester culminated in a final site-specific performance in Brooklyn featuring her choreography among the works of her fellow students. Currently, Mercandetti resides in San Francisco, CA, training at the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance.
